Moscow pretends to host the Games of the Future

Moscow made it to the short-list of five cities vying for the right to host competitions of new format which will combine classic and innovation sport. Moscow is competing up against St. Petersburg, Kazan, Kaluga and the federal territory Sirius. The Games of the Future will be held in 2024 and the host city will be announced already in June 2022 at St. Petersburg International Economic Forum based on the results of inspection visits.

The delegation of the tournament organizers visited the Luzhniki stadium and the Music Media Dome to evaluate the potential to hold the inaugural hybrid competitions combining sports, science and education. The Games of the Future are a digital technological tournament in 16 innovational sports disciplines, a double-event of new format where athletes are equally successful both in digital and classical disciplines, for example, both in mini-football and 3×3 basketball, as well as in the digital analogues FIFA and NBA2K.

”The inspection visits we conduct these days are meant to check out the readiness of respective cities to hold this unique innovational tournament and determine the capital of inaugural Games of the Future. Moscow’s bid is prepared well and meets quality standards, we saw everything we wanted and we thank our colleagues for productive joint work”, – noted the head of the project Games of the Future Igor Stoliarov.

The bidding camping for the right to hold the inaugural Games of the Future in Russia was launched by vice-premier Dmitry Chernyshenko in November 2021. More than 40 regions expressed their desire to hold the tournament, of these 19 submitted to the organizers a package with bidding documents. A short-list of candidates was formed as a result of inspection visits. And the city-organizer of the inaugural Games of the Future will be announced based on the results of inspection visits.
