Dmitry Chernyshenko kicked-off the bidding campaign for the selection of the host city of the Games of the Future – the first international tournament in innovative technological sports disciplines.
The event was also attended by Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin, the Minister of digital development, communication and mass communications Maksut Shadaev, the Minister of science and higher education Valery Falkov, the President of “ER-Telecom Holding” Andrey Kuzyaev, representatives of the Organizing committee of the Games of the Future; representatives of all regions of the Russian Federation joined in videoconferencing mode.
Dmitry Chernyshenko told about the main directions which will unite in the new international movement and about the premises for holding the Games of the Future in Russia.
“We note an explosive growth of the interest of the audience and sponsors in new progressive sports disciplines which are actively gaining popularity. Russia is holding solid positions in eSports – at the top of world eSports ranking thanks to sensational victories.
The domestic achievements in sports and innovations in digital technologies give us the right resource for creating a brand-new sports product – the Games of Future. The tournament will reinforce Russia’s image on the international arena as a progressive, open and technologically advanced power”, – the vice-premier said.
The concept for the bidding campaign which will determine the city or the alliance of cities to hold in Russia the Games of Future 2023 was presented to the participants of the session. The selection of host cities will last till May 2022 – the organizers will analyze the bids from the regions and visit the cities within the framework of inspection tours. After that the city which is to host the games will be announced.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also introduced the first ambassador of the Games of the Future – the Team Spirit who recently won the world championships The International 10. The vice-premier congratulated sportsmen on this important role and presented them with a unique artifact – a generated NFT-token.
“I am glad to declare ambassador of the Games of the Future the Team Spirit who gained prominence on the world eSports arena. The champions love sport and live it and use in their professional activity the achievements of digital technologies. I am confident that they will make their contribution to the forming of the event sports content and the creation of an eye-catchy and spectacular format of the competitions, – Chernyshenko underscored.
